Job offer: Manager of Market Development and Partnerships

The Érudit team is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to support the development of its partnerships, notably the Partnership for Open Access.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the Manager of Market Development and Partnerships is responsible for the development of Open Access partnerships and target markets (national and international university library consortia). He/she plans, coordinates and contributes to the realization of the strategic positioning of the organization, particularly of Coalition Publica, on national and international levels. He/she will also contribute to the development of the business model underlying the Partnership for Open Access.

This is a regular position on special funds (35 hours/week), to be filled immediately.

Main Challenges

  • Advise management and key members of the organization on market development directions and strategies to be considered within the scope of Érudit’s activities.
  • Plan the deployment of development strategies and coordinate the efforts of all members of the Érudit team around partnership development.
  • Develop potential markets for open access partnerships, notably through canvassing, networking and representation with potential partners and clients (consortia, libraries, etc.).
  • Contribute to the implementation, in close collaboration with the Érudit team, of the economic model supporting open access partnerships.
  • Consolidate and develop relationships with libraries and institutions in the Quebec, Canadian and international academic community.
  • Collaborate on engagement strategies with various stakeholders in the scholarly communications community, particularly libraries.
  • Plan and recommend the budget for all of Érudit’s positioning and market development activities.
  • Track and manage the growth of the content of the Érudit platform in Canada and internationally.
  • Contribute to the organization’s strategic watch, in order to fuel reflection on the growth, sustainability and influence of Érudit.
  • Carry out related tasks and responsibilities.

Profile sought

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate field of specialization (management, cooperation or market development (national and international), sales, or marketing) and 3 years of experience in the field of research or doctoral degree in an appropriate field of specialization.
  • In-depth knowledge of the academic and research environment, particularly libraries and the field of scientific publications in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Strong interest in issues related to open access to scientific publications.
  • Dynamic, autonomous and creative in identifying strategies and solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team and to assume leadership of development initiatives.
  • Experience in business development, networking and canvassing.
  • Perfect command of French and English (written and spoken).
