New Scientific Committee for Érudit

The mission of Érudit’s new scientific committee is to help structure and guide Érudit’s research and development activities, and to support innovation.

Following a call for candidates in winter 2024, we received several high-quality submissions. The appointed members stand out for their authority in key areas related to research on scholarly publishing or for their experience as leading members of editorial teams. They also possess recognized expertise, as attested by scientific publications, reports, conference presentations or active participation in working groups and committees. Their mandate is for a period of three years.

We are delighted to introduce the new members of this committee:

  • Laurence Bherer, Professor, Department of Political Science, Université de Montréal;
  • Audrey Canalès, Professor, Department of Arts, Letters and Languages, Université de Sherbrooke;
  • Linda Cardinal, Professor, Université de l’Ontario français, Director of Enjeux et société;
  • Léna Diamé Ndiaye, Professor, School of Social Work, Université de Saint-Boniface and Director of Cahiers franco-canadiens de l’Ouest;
  • Caroline Fortin, general manager and editor-in-chief of Continuité;
  • Julien Lefort-Favreau, Professor, Department of French Studies, Queen’s University;
  • Philippe Mongeon, Professor, School of Information Management, Dalhousie University and Editor-in-Chief, The Canadian Journal of Information and Library Science

  • Louise Vandelac, Professor, Department of Sociology, Université du Québec à Montréal and co-editor-in-chief of Vertigo
  • Marie-Hélène Vandersmissen, Professor, Department of Geography, Université Laval and Editor-in-Chief of Cahiers de géographie du Québec.

This committee is chaired by Érudit’s Scientific Director, Vincent Larivière, Professor at the Université de Montréal’s School of Library and Information Science, UNESCO Chair on Open Science and co-holder of the Quebec Research Chair on the Discoverability of Scientific Content in French.

The newly composed committee met for the first time in September 2024. We look forward to working with the members to address challenges and opportunities for the platform.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to outgoing members for their valuable contributions, including René Audet, Chloé Leclerc, Richard Marcoux, Benoît Melançon and Lyne Sauvageau.
