In acknowledgement of the exceptional scope of his research and commitment to the dissemination of knowledge, Vincent Larivière has been awarded the 2025 Acfas Thérèse-Gouin-Décarie Prize.

Since 2015, Vincent has played a key role in the development of Érudit as its scientific director. His bibliometric research on the role of national journals, multilingualism, and open access has helped Érudit establish a unique position in the research infrastructure ecosystem. Each year, the Prix Acfas Thérèse-Gouin-Décarie recognizes excellence in social sciences research. The awarding of this prize to Vincent this year recognizes a remarkable career, whose impact extends far beyond the academic world.

“As an information science researcher, Vincent uses rigorous data analysis to shed light on the transformations in the publishing landscape and the challenges facing scientific publishing. And as a publicly-engaged scholar, he is a staunch advocate of open science, linguistic plurality, and the promotion of the humanities and social sciences. Together, these contributions have played, and continue to play, a unique and decisive role in the development of Érudit.”

As Chair of Érudit’s Scientific Committee, Vincent also guides the committee’s work and contributes to the platform’s research and development activities.

“A pillar of our team, Vincent knows how to emphasize the value of Quebec and Canadian journals and remind us of their essential role in the circulation of knowledge. He provides the arguments we need to defend these journals’ public funding and increase their institutional legitimacy. His work helps us better understand the readership and impact of journals and our platform. His ability to raise awareness with decision-makers in his consultations and testimonials is tremendous. Vincent’s passion is a source of inspiration for each and every one of us!”

– Tanja Niemann, Executive Director of Érudit.

The entire Érudit team joins in warmly congratulating Vincent. Thank you for your commitment, expertise, and energy in advancing Érudit’s mission. This distinction is well deserved!
