The current crisis is reshaping our society as a whole, and the humanities and social sciences are essential to understanding all the issues involved.

In this perspective, we have initiated a project to put forward scientific articles to help put this crisis into perspective: 

List of journals temporarily freely available – 30/03/2020

cadenasThe response from the journals that we disseminate with an embargo to our proposal for temporary free access has been very positive. It should be noted that only the last 12 months of publication of these journals normally have restricted access, the archives being offered in open access.

Assessment of a temporary removal of the moving pay wall – 25/03/2020

Following the international movement initiated by the ICOLC Consortium, which represents the largest library consortia around the world, including the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), several digital platforms, commercial as well as non-profit, are now offering unrestricted access to content normally under subscription.

We are currently exploring options to temporarily remove our 12-months moving pay wall (currently in effect for 89 scholarly journals). We are committed to supporting the global effort for open access to research results, while respecting the fragile economic reality of the journals with which we work. As a reminder, 97% of journal content on Érudit is available in open access, and 72 journals publish in full and immediate open access..
