Public Knowledge Project Selected for SCOSS

We are delighted to congratulate the Public Knowledge Project team, as PKP has been selected by the Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS) as part of its second funding cycle.

SCOSS is a network of institutions committed to providing long-term support to the major components of open access and open science infrastructures. Officially launched in 2017, SCOSS offers a cost sharing structure for non-profits, providing non-commercial services to the scholarly community.

Several university library consortia and representative associations have become members of SCOSS, including the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL), the EIFL, LIBER, REDALYC, and SPARC Europe.

By joining the SCOSS, PKP will certainly benefit from financial support, but this selection is also a testament to the importance of the technologies and services PKP provides to the scientific community. For instance, among other projects, the Public Knowledge Project develops Open Journal Systems (OJS), a software suite used by over 10 000 scholarly journals worldwide.

We are pleased to partner with PKP in a tangible and sustainable way as part of Coalition Publica, an initiative that actively supports Canadian scholarly journals in the humanities and social sciences in their transition towards open access.
