A Year Under the Sign of the Diamond

As this year comes to an end, I am delighted to present to you our Annual Report for 2023-2024. It’s the perfect opportunity to look back on a year of great achievements, accentuated by an ever-stronger commitment to open science, the common good and collaboration.

Since its launch in 1998, Érudit has been passionately committed to promoting open digital publishing and research in the fields of the social sciences and the humanities. Year after year, this commitment to the dissemination of open knowledge has been strengthened by the close collaboration we have maintained with you, and with our whole community.

This year’s accomplishments confirmed the essential role that our infrastructure plays in the scholarly publishing ecosystem. They are the fruit of our combined efforts to build a truly open, fair, and diversified environment.

We would also like to thank our partners, whose continued support is essential to pushing accessibility and discoverability of knowledge forward, at home and abroad

Toward a Diamond Horizon

  • Érudit and Coalition Publica have carved out a special place for themselves as representatives within the movement for diamond open access, which has been at the heart of numerous meetings and discussions.
  • Fair and inclusive, diamond open access is defined by the absence of publishing fees for authors and subscription fees for readers. Non-commercial journals that adopt this mode of dissemination are rooted in their research communities and account for the majority of publications disseminated by Érudit.

Commitments to Open Science

  • Supporting and promoting open access remains a priority. The POA, our Partnership for Open Access that supports journals in an evolving environment, is a key part of our strategy.
  • Our efforts are focused on discoverability and related issues, notably through our ongoing projects on persistent identifiers and the interoperability of our technologies.
  • Érudit was also the origin point for a series of initiatives aimed at promoting multilingualism, open access and the free sharing of information. Among these, our organization of the Symposium québécois des revues savantes is worthy of note.

A Growing Organization

37 million

Is about the number of pages that were viewed through the erudit.org platform. That represents a 176% increase since 2018! We’d like to highlight that 75% of article views originate outside Canada.

249,000

Is the total number of articles in our corpus right now. Of those, 12,000 were added this year, a record-shattering amount!

348 journals

Are currently disseminated on our platform, including 26 newly added in 2024.
