Announcement of a New Agreement for the Partnership for Open Access

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) and Érudit are proud to announce a new five-year agreement (2025–2029) for the Partnership for Open Access, with 57 participating libraries. This renewal represents an important step in the transition toward a fair, non-commercial and sustainable model for scholarly publishing in Canada.

Since its creation in 2014, the Partnership for Open Access (POA) has pursued the objective of supporting Canadian scholarly journals while also promoting open access without publishing fees, commonly called Article Processing Charges (APC). Thanks to the ongoing engagement of participating libraries, the POA provides financial support to 260 scholarly journals. Independent and non-commercial, these journals reflect the linguistic and disciplinary diversity of high-impact research conducted in Canada and beyond.

The Partnership for Open Access

The POA enables open access publishing in Canada. It provides financial support to non-commercial scholarly journals through the ongoing commitment of library partners and is based on a close collaboration between all stakeholders of the research ecosystem. Part of the diamond open access movement, the POA is building a collective, equitable, and robust path for the dissemination of knowledge.
